CAMP KOSCIUSZKO: The Polish Army at Niagara Camp, 1917-1919
November 11, 2017-November 2018
The Department of National Defence is still conducting an Unexploded Explosive Ordnance (UXO) clearance at the old rifle range site on the Lakeshore Properties, part of Niagara Camp during the Great War. Although the current extensive rifle range was built in the 1930s it was used almost continuously by training groups until the early 2000s. It is part of the historic fabric of Camp Niagara and hence should be preserved, at least in part, after the unexploded ordnance has been removed.
In 2018, on the third Thursday of the month, the Niagara Historical Society is planning a series of lectures on various aspects of Camp Kosciuszko -- stay 'tuned' for more information.
